Nautanki Sala, with its brilliantly written script and fabulous screenplay, is truly of this generation's best comedies. Ayushmann Khurana is effortless as Ram, working a theater job in a drama role as (LoL!) Raavaan, who in the process of helping his hilariously comical but heartbroken friend Mandar (Kunaal Roy Kapur), falls in love with Nandini, played by the gorgeously sweet Pooja Salvi. The music is soothing, the dialogues superbly witty, and the overall package hugely entertaining. Ayushmann carries the film in nearly every frame, but Kunaal, reminiscent of Vinay Pathak in Bheja Fry, provides the perfect canvas for laughter.
Memorable moments(there are several!)
- The comical turn of events when Ram finds Nandini with her boyfriend in the same hotel that he takes Mandar to.
- The comical take on Ramayana in the theater scenes are central to the plot. Don’t miss Ram portraying Ravaan and Mandar portraying Ram! Are you giddy already?
- The mellifluous "Saadi Galli Aaja" track picturized on Ayushmann and Pooja is wonderful to watch as well as listen. The song is sung by Ayushmann himself, who is also one of the music composers for the film. (Watch out for this talent!)
- The "Dhak Dhak karne laga" remix is oh-so-catchy!
